Bruce Tizzard

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Bruce Tizzard, age 78, on Thursday February 26, 2026 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, following a brief illness.

Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, July 26, 1947, Bruce was the son of the late Walter and Annie Ida (Strange) Tizzard. He was employed for many years as a carpenter. Bruce enjoyed fishing, painting and was a “self-proclaimed” artist. He was a volunteer with Palliative Care and was a member of the Nova Scotia Health Board. He was always happiest when spending time in Leitches Creek with his grandchildren.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Emma (Gray); his children – Robert, Holly, David, and Bruce Jr.; his nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; siblings – Bonnie Brocklehurst, Dorothy Puffer, and Judy Tizzard.

Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his brother David and his sister Nancy.

A service for Bruce will be announced at a later date. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
